چکیده مقاله
A curved-blade static mixer was designed and experimentally evaluated for inline mixing and fouling ‎mitigation in Newtonian fluids within the transitional flow regime (Re = 2000–3000). Three spaced element ‎arrangements (L/D = 0.75, 1.5, and 2) were investigated over a 10 cm tubular section. Mixing performance ‎was quantified using the coefficient of variation (CoV), energy consumption through pressure drop, and ‎fouling propensity via an empirical deposition index (DI). The L/D = 2 configuration (with four elements) ‎reduced fouling by over 90% relative to an empty pipe while incurring negligible pressure drop, rendering ‎it optimal for energy-constrained processes requiring adequate turbulence to suppress fouling. The L/D = ‎‎0.75 arrangement achieved superior mixing quality (CoV < 0.05). An empirical friction factor correlation, ‎F=1.05×104×Re-1.18×(L/D)0.95, was developed, providing a unified description of the hydrodynamic behavior ‎in both empty and mixer equipped pipes, with lower energy losses and favorable comparability to the ‎conventional static mixers.‎
